Private & member-only sharing

A map doesn’t have to be fully public — you can share it only with people you allow. You set the audience for viewing, posting, and commenting independently.

Four audience levels

“Who can view”, “who can post”, and “who can comment” are set separately — e.g. anyone can view but only members can post.

Sharing with approved people only (members)

  1. Open My Page and press “Edit” on the map.
  2. Under “Who can view?”, choose “Members” (you can restrict posting and commenting the same way), then save.
  3. Share the map’s URL with the people you want to invite.
  4. They log in and press “Apply for membership” on the map.
  5. You approve the request under “Members” on My Page. Only approved people can then view (and, depending on settings, post).
Great for: family, friends, clubs, teams, or communities — any map meant for a limited group. To keep a map entirely to yourself, choose “Owner only”.

You can change the audience anytime — for example, build a map privately as “Owner only”, then switch it to “Members” or “Anyone” when it’s ready.
